Students and staff used Thursday February 26th, 2009, to celebrate Black History Month.

Students rotated through eight stations (each was 40 minutes in length).  The goal was to have engaging workshops that would pay tribute to the African Heritage.  We devoted the entire day to these workshops to make a statement to the students, as to how important African Heritage is to our Puerto Rican culture and to the country we live in.

STATIONS:

1. Black notable quotables (Elaine Vazquez)

2. Bomba (Ruben Gerena and Saul Melendez)

3. Muntu Dance (Juan and Raymond Rodriguez)

4. Significant Black Musicians (Awilda Gonzalez and Elias Carmona)

5. Black Inventors (Steven Millard)

6. African Food in the Americas (Zoraida Tanon)

7. Black Liberation and the San Francisco 8 (Mike Reyes and Alejandro Molina)

8. Kente Cloth (Brenda Torres)
