“Grade Day Celebrations” are in the form of open houses. Parents and families have the opportunity to meet the teachers and mentors as well as the administrators. Janina Silva, a member of the Batey Urbano and a student at Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos High School spoke about her experience as a part of the Digital Youth Summer Jobs Program (DYSJP) and how she was able to be part of a program that educated and fought against obesity and let her use the tech skills she learned, such as video-editing, writing public health oriented public service announcements (PSAs) and podcasting.
PACHS will be present at the Haunted Paseo Boricua and Parade on Oct. 31 in the Humboldt Park neighborhood along Division Street between the two steel monumental Puerto Rican flags. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
