Dear Parent/Guardian,

It pleases me to inform you that several students made the “Principal’s List” because of their 4th quarter grades (having a 3.0 GPA or higher). Also, many students received a “Perfect Attendance” award for the month of April. We want to encourage students and their families to continue working hard to finish the school year on a strong note.

Accompanied with this letter, is your son/daughter’s progress report. This is not a report card with official grades. The grades that you see on the report are where your son/daughter are, academically, as of May 14. Please remind your son/daughter that they still have until June 16th to either keep their grades up or to get them up if they are low.

Here are some upcoming dates to keep in mind:

• Senior Awards Dinner: Friday, June 4th at 7pm, Casa Puertorriqueña
o (For staff and graduating seniors only – dress to impress)
• Prom Night: Friday, June 11th at 7pm, Humboldt Park Field house
o (For any interested Albizu Campos student – dress to impress)
• Last Day of School: Wednesday, June 16th
• Puerto Rican People’s Day Parade: Saturday, June 19th at 2pm
o (Division and Western and open to ALL!)
• Graduation: Tuesday, June 22nd at 10am, Humboldt Park Boathouse
o (For community and family – first come first serve seating)

Parent and Guardian Update 5-15-09

Greetings to all families and friends of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos High School!

There is less than a month left of school so this will be the last update of the school year. First of all, Tuesday May 19th all students will be participating in the YCCS Olympics. It is a day of exercise and healthy competition. We will have the opportunity to compete in softball, volleyball, double dutch, relay races and tug of war. The event will go all day and students will continue classes on May 20th.

In two weeks, May 25th, there will be no school. However, Tuesday and Wednesday, will be our school retreat. It will be a field trip. For more infromation please contact Judy Diaz (judyd@pedroalbizucamposhs.org)

June 10th is the last day of classes. Graduation will be at the boat house, in Humboldt Park, on June 23.

The last two weeks of school are extremely important to finishing the classes. Students will be responsible for finishing projects and taking final exams.

Parent/Guardian Update 4/19/09

1. Grade Day Celebration was a success!
Students, families and friends fill Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos HS to talk about grades. The school used a new format to discuss grades. Parents/Guardians, or students, first went down to the cafeteria to receive their report card from their counselor. Next, as they made their way up the stairs, they were able to ask their teachers how they ended up with their grades. Each department had their own room, Math in Lares, Science in Vieques, History in Ciales, English and Art in Jayuya, and the Spanish and ELO teachers were in Ponce.

2. NO school for Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors
Juniors will be taking the Prairie State Assessment Examinations
These tests will allow these Juniors to use their scores for ACT. These tests are used by the state to determine the amount of money we receive for our school.

3. Prom tickets are on sale
The 2009 PACHS Prom will be taking place at the Humboldt Park Field House, on May 22. Tickets are $35
