Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos was invited to participate in the 2009 YCCS Olympics. The Olympics is a culminating event of a full school yer of hard work in the areas of sportsmanship and healthy living. PACHS was invited to the olympics to demonstrate good sportsmanship and fair play.
This was shown by shaking hands after every event and even applauding other teams’ efforts. PACHS did end up victorious in Softball, Soccer and Volleyball (The big team events). Softball was very interesting because PACHS won First, Second and Third Place medals. Some of the best sportsmanship was seen in a later game where PACHS came back 14-3, to only lose 14-12 (capped by July Ramos’ incredible hit and slide into first base). Volleyball teams witnessed something special as PACHS’ Dawn O. served 15 straight points in one game. The PACHS soccer team was dominant, as our Mexican contingent represented with pride.
