ASN
The Alternative Schools Network (ASN) is a not-for-profit organization in Chicago working to provide quality education with a specific emphasis on inner-city children, youth and adults. Since 1973, the ASN has been supporting community based and community-run programs to develop and expand training and other educational services in Chicago’s inner-city neighborhoods. In addition to supporting direct services, ASN has been a consistent and effective advocate for community based services whereby the people involved are active participants in developing and running programs – not passive recipients of services. To shape policies and programs, the ASN has built an impressive track record of operating successful education, employment and support service programs. The ASN currently works with 24 community-based alternative high schools in Chicago.

RSP (Reennrolled Student Project)
The Alternative Schools Network (ASN) with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has developed a project to expand services for re-enrolled students entitled the Re-Enrolled Student Project (RSP). This project will provide services for at least 626 re-enrolled students. It has been implemented as a partnership between the ISBE and ASN together with its member schools. RSP currently exists within 22 community-based high schools. It has allowed those schools to expand whatever service they identify to serve students’ needs. RSP is in its third year of funding.
PNF (Project New Futures)
- Project New Futures aims to strengthen and support older foster youth general transition skills including job skill preparation and vocational/trade careers while promoting college readiness and placement. Another key component to this project is our 12-24 month post-graduation follow-up and support services to ensure college, employment, vocational retention and success. The project also includes quality career internship, job shadowing, and job placement as another strategy to expose the student to career options.
